If we can get an arcane mage with slow it will be awesome, striders with slow+CoEx they have -80% speed,so yed will have time to cast some searing pain and get more aggro and faster, with that the range dps that they will be nuking the striders will be able to nuke harder and kill the striders faster, then they are going to have few seconds to dps the nagas,so less nagas when we enter phase 3,if we enter phase 3 and we have to deal with one strider and lets say 3 nagas our chance for a wipe it is very high, the best will be a half strider and 2 nagas(one full hp and one half hp)that will lead us to kill.

I can't really add something to the kiter/dps/tanking strategies, although it seems good to me to put ranged in the centre and melee/ranged on the stairs.

The one thing I saw Yed doing and I thought that was really useful is to be walking on the stairs for the kiting, with that making a bigger circle than the strider is actually walking. Logical it seems, because the strider is being slowed down and by the time the kiter moved on in faster tempo the strider will take the shortest way to the kiter ... right through the middle.

For the healing.
In my opinion the healers are assigned to different spots rather than to different persons. You have to be extremely flexible in who you heal. Are you assigned to a spot in the middle you will probably be healing the tanks and people in the middle most. When you're assigned to the outer ring, you'll be healing the elemental dps-ers and the kiters.
Most important thing is that you are responsible for every person that is in range. Sometimes there might be not much to do when there's no forked lightning or kiter nearby. Use the time to either regenerate mana or help the dps with killing the elementals.

So make sure you can quickly change targets and be able to see when a damaged person is in range or not.

You can use the standard-interface for that I'm told, and I'm sure it works just fine.
What I miss in the standard interface is highlighting of dmg-ed persons in range, see who has the aggro and is probable to receive more dmg, or keep track of my HoT's.

The addon I use to improve that is mouse-click-cast based: Healbot
http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info6096-HealBotcontinued.html

Another addon that I know of, more customizable, and works as usual select and cast with actionbar: Grid
http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info5747-Grid.html

To reach the same mouse-click-cast effect with Grid or any unitframes, you can use: Clique
http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info5108-Clique.html

Now I'm not telling that you should use an addon for healing, some say that using addons compensates for lack of skills. I only mention the addons because it works best for me.

(If you decide to try one of the addons: I can't help you with Grid, because I don't understand it. I can't help you with Clique, because I never gave it a real try. I can help you with Healbot :) )

The problem I had on Sunday was building enough aggro so that anyone else could do sufficient DPS. DoTs certainly don't build aggro fast enough whereas Searing Pain does but it has a 1.5 sec cast time.
I think due to my inexperience at kiting I didn't really have the confidence to stop, turn and cast Searing Pain regularly enough to maintain a decent ammount of aggro. Having had that practice on Sunday though I think I'll be in a position to do a much better job.
If one of the other locks could throw a Curse Of Elements on the striders then that should help me keep aggro, this may have been done on Sunday but was too busy running to notice :-)

Vashj is a nice lady but she will still go down !!

On the WWS, the things I found mostly, are the huge differences in the dps lists every attempt. Scape has a 88% presence, while a lot of dps have a lot lower % presence, so from my point of view our dps can work harder on getting more time spent dpsing.
Dps on the stairs should already be constantly dpsing, if they arent, it could be that we overassigned dps there.

Example : Roone and Oteca where both assigned to the NW.Roone has a 99% presence while Oteca has 71%.

Wednesday's tries went very nice, we have tweaked and improved a lot of things and getting to 9% on the second night on Vashj is fantastic progress. Well done to everyone who was present.

What helped were our experiences from Sunday (and that the majority of the raid at least were the same people), and that I think we tweaked the strategy nicely. One of the things I found is that we had to give more than usual consideration to individual players' strengths and weaknesses and assign tasks accordingly. We are not used to doing this, but it's necessary on a tough boss like Vashj.

For the time being, unless someone can see a strong reason why not to, I think we should go with Wednesday's base strategy and practice it a bit more, with only minor tweaks as needed.

Wednesday's composition/strategy for Phase 2 was:
Main Tanks: 2 - positioning east+west, tanking Nagas as they come on the outer edge of the inner circle.
Strider Team: 5 ranged - Yed for kiting, 4 dps including as many tailors as possible and a shadow priest
Naga Team: 3 ranged - Our three highest single-target dps-ers
Stairs west: 2 dps - one melee + one hunter
Stairs remaining section: 5 dps - interweaved two melee + three ranged (two hunters at least)
Healing: 4 inner + 4 outer - 1 outer at west, 3 outer spread evenly on large section (south/southeast/northeast)

This will have to be tweaked slightly depending on raid composition on Sunday.

The 8 ranged dps in the center reported that the Striders were firmly under control (our top priority), the Nagas were going down at a reasonable pace and the Strider nukers could sometimes switch focus to Nagas briefly.

Awesome job last night guys. I must admit I was starting to think we wouldn't do it especially after wiping in phase 1, but the famous 'final attempt of the night' proved successful.
Great job by everyone, Kael'thas must be getting nervous. Be afraid be very afraid Mr Sunstrider, we are coming for you.

:-)

Yes indeed yed, was a great result. Tensions were high and the excitement was building up, it was without a doubt the best fight i have been to yet, totally enjoyed it.

I hope you all saw the Bonus Alliance Raid on the Calendar tonight (25th).... Gogo Vashj... only her :D

For all those that weren't able to get the title after Kael'thas cos u didn't have Vashj's part of the quest. And for all others to help those people to achieve this title. And ofcourse: Big Fun.
